Nice To Meet You!!

Hi, my name is Emiri Yoshida. My name sounds like an American name so please call me Emily. I am a sophomore. I'm majoring in English Education for junior high or high school students.

I have lived in Yamanashi since I was born. I'm going to tell you about some good points of Yamanashi. First, there is Mt.Fuji. Do you know Mt. Fuji? It is the highest mountain in Japan. We can see very beautiful Mt.Fuji, especially on sunny day after snowing. This summer I climbed Mt.Fuji with my members of basketball club. It is worth climbing it at least once in a life. Second, Yamanashi is famous for some fruits, for example grapes, cherries, peaches, and so on. Every year I eat them a lot for free. That's nice!! Third, there are some good spas around Yamanashi. Of all others, I recommend you "Hottarakashi Onsen". It is a open-air bath so we can see a nice view soaking in it. In the early morning we can see sunrise and at night we can see a beautiful night view. Of course both of them are very good but I prefer seeing sunset to seeing a night view. That would touch you.

I went to America last year. There is a sister university of ours in Kentucky. I went there to study English for about three weeks. I made friends with American and talked with them in English. After that, I went to Los Angels and Las Vegas for sightseeing. It was a lot of fun!! This trip to America became a good experience. I want to go there again.

I'm interested in foreigners and foreign countries so I'd like to become friends with you!! Please talk to me without constraint and be friendly. Thank you!!

Did you have fun climbing Mt. Fuji? I bet the view was amazing. How long did it take? Which fruit is your favorite? I like cherries the best. I think seeing a sunset at an Onsen would be very nice. I'm glad you had fun when you came to America. Would you go to the same place or would you like to go someplace different? There are also a lot of beautiful places in America. ~Ana

When I was last in Japan, I lived in Odawara, so I was able to visit Mt. Fuji. It was a breathtaking experience. We only climbed as far as we could drive, though my host brother and I took a short donkey ride up higher. I would like to climb to the top, someday. We also drove past four of the five lakes on Mt. Fuji, and went for a boat ride on one. My host brother wasn't very good at rowing, so I had to do all of it! I got terrible blisters... --@ Tân

Hello Emily,

So, English Education! That seems very interesting. I was once majoring in that at the University of New Hampshire but I didn't do very well in some of the classes so I transferred to a different major.

I see you're hometown is also Yamanashi. Mount Fuji is so beautiful; it usually appears in any advertisement for Japan here in the U.S. because its part of Japans' iconic imagery. I think when I go there I want to climb some of the mountain as a 'homage' to the country.

I bet visiting the States was very fun. I haven't seen any of the areas you visited in the U.S. I've never been out West to California nor Las Vegas. You're very lucky, I bet that was really interesting to see Los Angeles.

Hope to hear more from you soon!

nice to meet you Emily. I have seen Mt Fuji from inside the Tokyo Tower, but never got to see it up close. I would really like to climb it someday. That's very good you got to spend some time in America studying, I'm sure that experience will be useful when you graduate.

sounds like you enjoyed visiting Nevada and California, those are very popular places in America, a good choice for a vacation. Other than study, what kind of things did you do while in America??

Hi Emily,
That's great that you have climbed Mt. Fuji. I too would love to climb the mountain. The closest I have been to it however, is seeing it through the airplane window when flying to Osaka.
I am glad to hear that you had a good time in the United States. Where else would you like to visit other than America?
