Christmas day and New year's day

I introduce about Christmas and New year in Japan. I'm not Christian, but I celebrate Christmas. When I was elementary school student, I was looking forward to get presents from Santa Claus. I wrote 'I want to have some toys' to him, and put letter in my socks on Christmas Eve day (24th of December). I ate fried chicken and cake. My home hasn't chimney, so, I opened windows in my room. Then I slept. I woke up next day, There is present near bed. I believed Santa Claus came my home.
We studied about Christmas in school. We listened some Christmas songs and wrote Christmas Cards. When I was high school student, I wrote letter to Santa Claus in English. I asked him 'Can you swim?' He said 'I can't.' He sent from Canada.
I think New year is more important than Christmas day in Japan. We don't send Christmas Cards to friends, but we send New year's cards to them. We cook 'OSECHI RYORI' for new year's day. But I don't like it. We say 'あけましておめでとうございます' (It means Happiness to you on the dawn of a New Year) But if your relative (for example your grandfather) died last year, you can't say 'あけましておめでとうございます' Because you are 喪中(もちゅう be in mourning) If your friends are MOCHU, you can't also say it to friends. We can't send New year's card to MOCHU's people. If you're student, you may get お年玉(pocket money) from your relative. This is new year's present. If you're not student and you have children, nephew or niece, you have to give some money to them.

My favorite song

My favorite song is 世界で一番頑張っている君にby HARCO. This is love song. Singer is husband and he is singing about his wife. I like the words of this song and his voice. Some commercial message use HARCO’s song. This you tube is commercial message for ALTO (it’s car).

Izakaya

I had a part time job as waiter in an Izakaya. Izakaya is Japanese style bar. You can eat a lot of foods and alcohol drink. For example Sashimi, Sushi, Pizza, Spaghetti, noodles, fried rice, fresh vegetables, Yakiatori, Beer, Wine, Sake (Japanese alcohol), Sour and juice. I worked here for a year. I could get money an hourly wage of 980-1500yen. My shop opens from 5:oo pm to 5:00 am. Sometimes I had to work 11hours. It was very hard.
My favorite food is Yakiudon(焼きうどん). It’s kind of fried noodles. A recipe for Yakiudon, some vegetables fry, then put Udon(it’s already boiled) and special sauce. It’s ready. Do you think it’s easy? But it’s delicious!! My favorite drink is Namasibori kiwi sour(生絞りキウイサワー). It looks like kiwi juice.
You have to be careful about ‘Otoshi(お通し)’ when you go to Izakaya. Otoshi is a small dish. Why do you get Otoshi? It means ‘please wait till cooking comes.’ But Otoshi isn’t free. It cost is 300-600yen. It’s expensive. If you don’t need Otoshi, you should tell staff. Some Izakaya is OK, but some Izakaya isn’t OK. Enjoy your time in Izakaya when you come to Japan. It’s Izakaya’s homepage. You can see menu.

☆Fancy dress contest☆

We have 3days at School Festival. The first day is Fancy dress contest. Second and third day are Festival, some comedians and singers perform, many clubs play music and dance, and there were many booths. When I was 1st& 2nd grade, I took part in Fancy dress contest with my friends, and we were champion at this contest. When I was 1st grade, our theme was 'Alice in wonder land'. About 30 people dressed up such as Alice, soldiers of card, king, queen and rabbit. I dressed up small king. It's handmade all of them. We have to walk 4km as dress costume. Start is Yamanashi University, then Takeda St and shopping arcade. It's important to walk in shopping arcade. Because staff(working shop here) is judge of contest. We had to show our costume for them. We said 'we hope to do good business in your shop' each shops. Then we clapped our hands only one time after say 'Yo'. This perform is lucky form in Japan. We went to Kofu Station and Castle of Maizuru. We had lunch here. When we finished lunch, we ran to Yamanashi University (about1.5km). It was very hard. When I was 2nd grade, our theme was 'Disney land'.We dressed us such as Mickey & Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Pooh, Monster's Inc and Peter Pan.I dressed up Tinker Bell.Do you think my Tinker Bell is cute?

The fruit kingdom

I live Minami Alps City in Yamanashi. My city merged six towns 5 years ago. My city name is Katakana. It's used only my city in Japan. When I was young , there were few shops. But we have two big shopping areas now. Some shops open 24 hours, it's very convenient. When it's good weather, I can look Mt Fuji(the highest mountain in Japan)in my room, but I haven't climbed. So, I want to try it someday. When I went to Lake Yamanaka(it's near Mt Fuji), I took this picture. You can look Mt Fuji in Yamanashi and Shizuoka Prefecture. I suggest to look in Yamanashi. Because it's more beautiful than Shizuoka. Fruit is famous in my town. I can eat many fruits such as cherries, peaches, plums, grapes, for nothing. I don't need buy them, because my neighbor gives me. Fruit is very delicious. I took this picture near my home. There are cherry fields in front of my home. When I was elementary school student, I ate cherries in cherry fields on the my way home. My favorite place is 'Loop Bridge'. It is famous for its beautiful night view in my town. You can also look a lot of stars. If you visit my hometown, don't forget to eat fruit and go to Loop Bridge.

I belonged to volunteer club

When I was 1st~3rd grade student, I belonged to volunteer club for disabled people. I taught math, science, society, Japanese, music, etc for them. Because they couldn't go to school 40 years ago and couldn't learn all subjects. Some disabled people said ' I want to study.' Then, students of Yamanashi University teach some subjects for them. when we finish studying, we go to shopping. I enjoyed this club.
